Suzhou:a city of inclusiveness and creativity

My name is Sun Hei. I was born in Hong Kong. In 1985, I went back to Mainland China since I graduated from University. I stayed in Hong Kong for about 15 years. And stayed in Mainland China for 15 years also. I spent 7 years abroad between these two periods. So , I am quite familiar with the environment of both Hongkong. And mainland China. relatively. I think Suzhou is a very attractive city. First of all, it is a representative city. and in the forefront of reform and opening up. It is also a very inclusive society. A city with strong creativity. Suzhou Industrial Park(SIP) is jointly developed by. China and Singapore. The SIP was constructed on a very high standard. At that time,My father learned that SIP needed a hospital. My parents have deep feelings for their hometown. So, 「Let's set up a hospital」. It's also a chance to do something good for the local people. Now, we are the only (private) general hospital . Among the First-class Hospitals at Grade 3 in Jiangsu Province. Now, there are about. 2000 beds in the hospital. This part. The front part of the building. This is the first phase project of our hospital. It covers about 110,000 square meters. This building and this building. Are second phase project of our Kowloon Hospital. The two projects add up to . about 200,000 square meters. We designed it in 2003 and 2004. Now it’s been nearly 20 years. We can say that . they are still not backward. Now we have another third project. A specialized hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology. We're building it now. Combining the functions of delivery and post-delivery rehabilitation services. To our hospital. Mothers and their new-born babies can get a better care. I think the speed of anti-epidemic in China. And the control over the whole situation. Are fast and accurate. Including some information construction. Health code. As well as the tracing track. All these are accomplished by means of information technology. To control the whole epidemic. We may take for granted at home. But many countries can't do it. During the epidemic, many companies, hotels. And even the general public. Donated to us. At that time, I received a lot of information. Asking me if we need masks. Or anything else. For example, a hotel. Sent food to our medical staff. Through trivial things. You can feel the concern of the whole society. The government has also given us a lot of support. Masks, protective clothing. They also allocated a lot of materials to us. The government treats our private hospitals. Virtually almost the same as public hospitals. The anti-epidemic efforts in China reflect the cohesion of the Chinese nation and its strong executive power. It's very incisive, I think. We also sent medical staff to Tibet several months ago. An entire medical team was sent to. Baisha County in Hainan. To Baisha County People's hospital. To help them with some operations. And give them suggestions on hospital management. This is our "heart-warming action". Free surgery for children with congenital heart disease. It was in 2016. We set up a foundation- Sun Fuk Lam Foundation. In the name of My father. It is a charity foundation. The hospital will also donate funds to the foundation on a regular basis. To help the poverty alleviation work. Jiangsu is a province with rapid development. It’s in the forefront of reform and opening up. Jiangsu has developed to this extent that. It needs a lot of talents. In fields of chips. new energy vehicle. We need different talents . In different fields. Friends and Students in Hong Kong. Are fond of places like Jiangsu. They are also very adaptable to this environment. Young people in Hong Kong. are very compatible with our environment, I think. There are also some students. Having 2-month-internship. To adapt to our Suzhou’s environment. Including working in our hospital. They feel great living in here. They think our environment. is even better than that in Hong Kong.
